BHUTTO ASSASSINATED!

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

(REPORTED BY ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS)

Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday, apparently after being shot and then attacked by a suicide bomber as she left a campaign rally, aides said. Twenty others also died.

The death of the charismatic former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 election into chaos and created fears of mass protests and an eruption of violence across the volatile south Asian nation.

The attacker struck just minutes after Bhutto addressed a rally of thousands of supporters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi. She was shot in the neck and chest by the attacker, who then blew himself up, said Rehman Malik, Bhutto’s security adviser. At least 20 others were killed in the blast. Bhutto was rushed to the hospital and taken into emergency surgery. “At 6:16 p.m. she expired,” said Wasif Ali Khan, a member of Bhutto’s party who was at Rawalpindi General Hospital. “The surgeons confirmed that she has been martyred,” Sen. Babar Awan, Bhutto’s lawyer, said.

Bhutto’s supporters at the hospital exploded in anger, smashing the glass door at the main entrance of the emergency unit. Others burst into tears. One man with a flag of Pakistan People’s Party tied around his head was beating his chest.

Some at the hospital began chanting, “Killer, Killer, Musharraf,” referring to President Pervez Musharraf, Bhutto’s main political opponent. A few began stoning cars outside.
“We repeatedly informed the government to provide her proper security and appropriate equipment including jammers, but they paid no heed to our requests,” Malik said.

Nawaz Sharif, another former premier and opposition leader, arrived at the hospital and sat silently next to Bhutto’s body.

US officials said they were looking into reports of Bhutto’s death.

“Certainly, we condemn the attack on this rally. It demonstrates that there are still those in Pakistan who want to subvert reconciliation and efforts to advance democracy,” said deputy State Department spokesman Tom Casey.

The United States has for months been encouraging Musharraf to reach some kind of political accommodation with the opposition, particular Bhutto, who is seen as having a wide base of support here. Bhutto served twice as Pakistan’s prime minister between 1988 and 1996. She had returned to Pakistan from an eight-year exile on Oct. 18. Her homecoming parade in Karachi was also targeted by a suicide attacker, killing more than 140 people. On that occasion she narrowly escaped injury. The scene of the bombing Tuesday was awash in blood.

An Associated Press reporter could see body parts and flesh scattered at the back gate of the Liaqat Bagh park where Bhutto had spoken. He counted about 20 bodies, including police, and could see many other wounded people. Party supporter Chaudry Mohammed Nazir said two gunshots rang out when Bhutto’s vehicle pulled into the main street and then there was a huge blast next to her car.

Police cordoned off the street with white and red tape, and rescue workers rushed to put victims in ambulances as people wailed nearby. The clothing of some of the victims was shredded and people put party flags over their bodies. Police caps and shoes littered the asphalt.

On Thursday, hundreds of riot police had manned security checkpoints to guard the venue. It was Bhutto’s first public meeting in Rawalpindi since she came back to the country. In November, Bhutto had also planned a rally in the city, but President Pervez Musharraf forced her to cancel it, citing security fears. In recent weeks, suicide bombers have repeatedly targeted security forces in Rawalpindi, a city near the capital where Musharraf stays and the Pakistan army has its headquarters.

THE TRUTH ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

A very important Senate report on Global Warming – reported by Jack Kinsella of the Omega Letter Independence”

A new Senate report on global warming shattered the myth of ‘scientific consensus’ about anthropogenic (man-made) climate change, after hearing from more than 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries. “Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming bites the dust,” declared astronomer Dr. Ian Wilson after reviewing the new study which has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Geophysical Research.

Another scientist said the peer-reviewed study overturned “in one fell swoop” the climate fears promoted by the UN and former Vice President Al Gore.

The study entitled “Heat Capacity, Time Constant, and Sensitivity of Earth’s Climate System,” was authored by Brookhaven National Lab scientist Stephen Schwartz.

Not too long ago, the chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Dr. Rahendar Pachuari, joked that there were perhaps ‘ a dozen’ skeptical scientists left in the world on the subject of climate change. Al Gore claims a ‘universal scientific consensus’ exists that blames human activity for what he says will be catastrophic climate changes over the next fifty years. Like Pachuari, Gore has publicly equated the global warming skeptics among the scientific community with members ‘of the Flat Earth Society.’ Gore also compared global warming skeptics to people who ‘believe the moon landing was actually staged in a movie lot in Arizona’.

A new minority Senate report on global warming shattered the myth of ‘scientific consensus’ about anthropogenic (man-made) climate change, after hearing from more than 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries. The new report issued by the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s office of the GOP Ranking Member details the views of the scientists, views that stand in stark contrast to those of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Indeed, many of the same scientists who contributed to the Senate report were themselves either current or former members of the UN’s IPCC ‘consensus’ opinion. The Senate report lists the scientists by name, country of residence, and academic/institutional affiliation. It also features their own words, biographies, and weblinks to their peer reviewed studies and original source materials as gathered from public statements, various news outlets, and websites in 2007. Many of the scientists featured in the report testified that many of their colleagues shared their views, but they will not speak out publicly for fear of retribution.

Atmospheric scientist Dr. Nathan Paldor, Professor of Dynamical Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem expressed the ‘consensus’ opinion among climate-change skeptics this way: “Many of my colleagues with whom I spoke share these views and report on their inability to publish their skepticism in the scientific or public media.”

Paleoclimatologist Dr. Tim Patterson, professor in the department of Earth Sciences at Carleton University in Ottawa, recently converted from a believer in man-made climate change to a skeptic. Patterson noted that the notion of a “consensus” of scientists aligned with the UN IPCC or former Vice President Al Gore is false. “I was at the Geological Society of America meeting in Philadelphia in the fall and I would say that people with my opinion were probably in the majority.”

The Senate report also details the teams of international scientists that are dissenting from the UN IPCC’s view of climate science. Scientists from Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, Russia, New Zealand and France contributed to the dissenting view. The dissenting scientists include experts in climatology; oceanography; geology; biology; glaciology; biogeography; meteorology; oceanography; economics; chemistry; mathematics; environmental sciences; engineering; physics and paleoclimatology.
Some of those profiled have won Nobel Prizes for their outstanding contribution to their field of expertise. (And many, as members of the IPPC panel, shared in the UN IPCC Nobel Peace Prize together with Al Gore).

This is a long list, but I am going to include it because of its sheer size. The dissenting scientists listed are far from members of the “Flat Earth Society”. Instead, they are members of: Harvard University; NASA; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR); Massachusetts Institute of Technology; the UN IPCC; the Danish National Space Center; U.S. Department of Energy; Princeton University; the Environmental Protection Agency; University of Pennsylvania; Hebrew University of Jerusalem; the International Arctic Research Centre; the Pasteur Institute in Paris; the Belgian Weather Institute; Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute; the University of Helsinki; the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S., France, and Russia; the University of Pretoria; University of Notre Dame; Stockholm University; University of Melbourne; University of Columbia; the World Federation of Scientists; and the University of London.

The most comprehensive definition I could find for “consensus” is this:
“General agreement, characterized by the absence of sustained opposition to substantial issues by any important part of the concerned interests and by a process that involves seeking to take into account the views of all parties concerned and to reconcile any conflicting arguments.”

The Senate report flatly contradicts the solemn pronouncements of the mainstream media, as well, which probably explains why it isn’t exactly a “Breaking News” headline.
One would think that the opposition of so many scientists, especially given the prestige of the institutions they represent, might cause somebody to rush for a dictionary to look up the word ‘consensus’ but no such luck. The media has been been universal in its, (forgive me) consensus opinion about scientific consensus on global warming.

“The scientific debate is over. We’re done. [Global warming skeptics] are “bought and paid for by the fossil fuel industry.” (Miles O’Brien, CNN July 23, 2007)

“There are only a “handful of skeptics” to man-made global warming fears.” (Washington Post, May 23, 2007)

“After extensive searches, ABC News has found no such [scientific] debate” on global warming. (ABC’s Bill Blakemore, August 30, 2006)

‘Science’ is supposed to be, well, scientific, which therefore suggests there is empirical evidence of sufficient weight to form a scientific ‘consensus’ — which would also then mean the end of the debate. But 17,000 top scientists signed a letter expressing the contrary view last year. Four hundred scientists expressed their opposition before the UN Senate.

The debate continues to rage among scientists, even as Al Gore, the UNIPPC, the mainstream media and the Nobel Peace Prize Selection Committee assure us that the science is ‘settled.’

In the 1980’s then-British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was doing battle with the environmentalists over expanding Britain’s nuclear power generation grid to include more reactors. Her government began to offer grants to scientists who could draw a link between fossil fuel and global climate change. Of course, to get the grant, one had to produce results. If the results favored the government’s position, more grants would follow. Other Western governments followed suit, and the myth of global warming was born. As far as scientific research is concerned, global warming is a cash cow.

All through the 1990’s new climate models and new projections, each more terrifying than the one before, resulted in an avalanche of grant money.

Governments used their findings as fuel to run various pet energy projects, justify spending, (or the lack thereof) and provide governments with a ‘boogey-man’ to scare their constituencies with. This isn’t conspiracy theory — it’s conspiracy fact. The scientists getting all the grant money are in ‘consensus’ — those outside the gravy train say its all baloney.

But . . . they are all looking at the same statistics!

Somebody is conspiring with somebody, here!

But for there to be a conspiracy, there must also be a motive. What is the motive for advancing the theory of man-made global warming? Let’s connect the dots. The UN is dependent on member governments, (particularly the US) for its operations budget. That makes the UN, at least marginally, accountable to those governments. If Congress, for example, were to cut off UN funding, it would lose both its headquarters and a quarter of its budget. The ability to impose taxes on difficult governments, (such as the USA) turns that equation on its head, making the member governments accountable to the UN — in essence, handing the United Nations absolute sovereign power. Absolute global power is a pretty convincing motive. And as you go down the line, the motive, power, remains pretty static. Global warming turned Al Gore from a failed national politician into a global political superstar. Global warming turned Dr. Heidi Cullen from a weathergirl on the Weather Channel into a global scientific authority with such prestige that her call to revoke the credentials of any meteorologist who didn’t agree with her made headlines worldwide.

Global warming offers something for everybody: power, prestige, money, control, glory . . . it reads like a Biblical list of Satan’s five ‘I wills’.

Global warming is the UN’s Declaration of Independence — if it can manage to pull off the greatest fascist power-grab in the history of the world. Global warming has become the politician’s refuge of last resort, a sort of whipping boy that can be trotted out and blamed for anything from raising taxes to exonerating genocide. (Witness Ban Ki Moon’s pathetic attempt to divert the blame for the genocide in Darfur away from the Islamic government in Khartoum — which might inflame the Islamic world mid-massacre — and the UN’s inaction, by claiming the conflict is the result of global warming.)

The myth of global warming runs the gamut of Biblical signs for the last days.

The Bible says the last days will be characterized by fear; fear of global catastrophic events; earthquakes, famines, wars, pestilences, signs in the atmosphere and in outer space, fear of climate change, fear of both the known and unknown. Jesus described it as, “the distress of nations, with perplexity” warning of “men’s hearts failing them for fear, for looking after the things that are coming upon the earth, for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” (Luke 21:25-26)

Paul said the global government will be founded on deception, and characterizes the antichrist as the ultimate deceiver. (2nd Thessalonians 2:10-11)

Finally, Jesus said, “when you see things things begin to come to pass”, we are to, “look up and lift up our heads, for [our] redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)

GREAT DISCOVERY FROM SECOND TEMPLE ERA

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Israeli archeologists have uncovered a monumental Second Temple structure opposite the Temple Mount that was likely Queen Helena’s palace, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced Wednesday.

The building was unearthed during a six-month excavation in the Givati parking lot just outside the Old City’s Dung Gate, ahead of the planned expansion of the Western Wall parking lot.

The site also indicates that the ancient City of David was much larger than previously thought, said archeologist Doron Ben-Ami, who is directing the dig at the site.

“The palace, which was destroyed by the Romans when they demolished the Second Temple in 70 CE, was dated to the end of the Second Temple period by pottery and stone vessels, as well as an assortment of coins from that time,” Ben-Ami said.

He said the elaborate edifice, which is an anomaly in the landscape of the lower city at the end of the Second Temple period – otherwise marked with only modest buildings – was probably a palace built by Queen Helena, a wealthy Babylonian aristocrat who converted to Judaism and moved to Jerusalem with her sons.

Helena became known for her generosity in helping the city’s poor during a famine. She was buried in Jerusalem.

According to the prominent 1st century historian Josephus, Helena’s family built lavish buildings in the City of David, which stood out at the time in a largely residential area that was noted for its almost complete absence of public or monumental buildings.

The archeologists carrying out the dig have not yet found any inscription to identify the building they uncovered, but Ben-Ami said there was a “high probability” that the site was indeed Helena’s palace.

“We need more evidence to decide, but almost everything fits,” he said.

The well-preserved structure being uncovered in the excavation is an impressive architectural complex that includes massive foundations; walls, some of which are more than five meters tall and are built of stones that weigh hundreds of kilograms; halls that are at least two stories tall; a basement level that was covered with vaults; and remains of polychrome frescoes, water installations and mikvaot.

“The narrow openings that were discovered in the basement level of the structure were likely used by its inhabitants to flee shortly before the Romans destroyed the palace,” Ben-Ami said.

The building was destroyed by dismantling the walls of the large structure, causing the massive stone walls and ceilings from the upper stories to collapse onto the basement.

The large edifice was covered with remains that date to later periods – Byzantine, Roman and early Islamic. Below it there are remains from the early Hellenistic period and artifacts from the time of the First Temple.

“It is like an open history book of Jerusalem,” Ben-Ami said.

ISRAEL APPROVES HOUSING PROJECTS

INCREASED HOUSING ALLOCATION FOR HAR HOMA, MAALEH ADUMIM
by Hana Levi Julian

The government has approved construction of more than a thousand new housing units in the Jerusalem suburb of Maaleh Adumim and the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Homa.

A furor was raised over a ten-year-old housing project for Har Homa that received its final permits this month for construction of 307 new apartments.

The Palestinian Authority has claimed that the neighborhood belongs to the section of Jerusalem it plans to use for the capital of the new state it assumes it will build in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas made frantic calls to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice immediately after the plan’s approval was announced, asking her to force Israel to quit the project.

The 2008 budget allocation, which includes 500 new apartments, comes in addition to the 307 units already approved. Maaleh Adumim will receive an additional 240 apartments under the plan as well.

A shortage of apartments in the Jerusalem area has driven housing prices very high over the past three years.

Minister of Jerusalem Affairs Rafi Eitan (Pensioners’ party) appeared unruffled by the Arabs’ opposition to the building of apartments in Jerusalem’s Jewish neighborhoods. “No promise was ever given to anyone that we wouldn’t continue to build in Har Homa,” he told Voice of Israel government radio on Sunday, “because it’s within the municipal borders of Jerusalem.” The area was formally annexed to the Jewish State after it was liberated from Jordanian occupation in the 1967 Six Day War.

Eitan pointed out that Maaleh Adumim also falls into that category. Both neighborhoods are located in the part of Jerusalem that was reunited with the rest of the capital in the 1967 Six Day War.

Radical left Peace Now director-general Yariv Oppenheimer immediately condemned the plan, bitterly commenting that the move would “trip up diplomatic negotiations (between Israel and the PA) before they’ve begun. Despite the government’s declarations that it would freeze construction, the 2008 budget proves that things will look different on the ground.”

A week before the Annapolis conference, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert agreed to freeze all new construction of new communities in Judea and Samaria and dismantle existing “illegal outposts”, including those which are in some cases expansions within the municipal boundaries of existing communities. Jerusalem was not included in that agreement.

HAMAS CHARGES $3,000 A DAY FOR EACH SMUGGLING-TUNNEL!
by Hillel Fendel

Hamas has taken over the estimated 150 smuggling-tunnels from Egypt into Gaza, and charges the owners $3,000 each per day.

Five tunnels were blown up by Hamas because their owners didn’t agree to pay the fee. The other digger/owners quickly agreed to pay the requested fee, enabling Hamas to attain a monopoly on the tunnels.

Correspondent Haggai Huberman reports that while the 150 tunnels bring in a total of some $150 million annually, the value of men, weapons and other merchandise smuggled in each year total more than three times that amount – close to a half-billion dollars. The tunnels are run in a systematic manner, with compensation being paid to the family of a tunnel-digger who dies during the work, and with judges who mediate in various disputes that arise.

The tunnels are categorized according to the goods that pass through them. Some specialize in weapons, cash, and – of late – Hamas military commanders who seek to return to Gaza. Others carry food, medicine, computer equipment, and other day-to-day items. Still others – dug next to IDF positions so as to keep Hamas inspectors far away – carry dangerous drugs.

The London-based Economist quoted last month a tunnel worker who lamented that the increase in the number of tunnels, as well as the high taxation rate imposed by Hamas, has eaten significantly into tunnel-smuggling profits.

Former IDF Southern Command chief Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yom Tov Samia recently wrote a paper for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, in which he stated, “The Palestinians have brought into Gaza more than 30,000 rifles during the past two years, more than six million rounds of ammunition, more than 230 tons of explosives, and scores of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles. These are the weapons Israel will face next time. The next round in Gaza will look more like Lebanon than what Israel faced in Operation Defensive Shield in Judea and Samaria in 2002, or in previous rounds in Gaza.”

Egypt announced last week that its forces had discovered two smuggling-tunnels. It has long been Israel’s position that Egypt is not doing nearly enough to stop the smuggling into Gaza.

In the fall of 2005, just weeks after the last Jew was forcibly removed from Gush Katif and other areas in Gaza, Israel transferred control of the Gaza-Egyptian border to Egypt. The agreement stipulated a 750-man Egyptian border force patrolling the border line known as the Philadelphi Route. This was contrary to the Israeli-Eyptian peace treaty of 1979, which banned any armed Egyptian presence in the Sinai Desert.

Israel has videotaped evidence of Egyptian assistance in smuggling Hamas terrorists through a fence, as well as proof of aid in tunnel-smuggling of arms. Israeli officials recently decided not to show US Congressmen videotapes of Egyptian policemen helping nearly 80 Hamas terrorists cross illegally into Gaza through a hole in the border fence. This, in order not to raise tensions between Israel and Egypt.

Instead, apparently, Defense Minister Ehud Barak will raise the arms-smuggling issue with his Egyptian counterparts when he visits Cairo later this week.

OLMERT GOVERNMENT BOWS TO US PRESSURE, NIXES JERUSALEM NEIGHBORHOOD!
by Ezra HaLevi

Wednesday’s leak of a municipal plan to build a new Jerusalem neighborhood on land of a moshav destroyed in the War of Independence has caused the repudiation of the plan in the face of American pressure.

The leak of the plan to build 10,000-15,000 housing units in Atarot, located in the northeastern part of the capital, was followed by hysterical headlines, outraged editorials and a dose of US pressure, resulting in its repudiation by the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Housing Minister.

Haaretz, who published the leaked plan, featured an editorial calling on Jerusalem to be built “up, not out.” The British Daily Telegraph inaccurately titled its own piece: “Israel plans new town on seized land,” despite the fact that the area of Atarot is wholly owned by Jews and was even home to a Jewish community before the War of Independence, when it was destroyed by the Jordanians.

In a carefully-crafted, ambiguously worded Hebrew statement sent to Arutz-7, Housing Minister Ze’ev Boim said that there is no “plan/planning” (tichnun) to establish a neighborhood in Atarot.

A day earlier, Boim had defended the plan, saying Israel has the right to build within Jerusalem’s municipal boundaries. The eastern neighborhoods of Jerusalem, including the Old City, ethnically cleansed of Jews in 1948 and liberated in the 1967 Six Day War, were annexed by the Knesset and are considered sovereign Israeli territory.

Boim’s about-face followed statements from the Prime Minister’s Office and Foreign Minister Tzippi Livni that the plan had not yet been authorized and would not be. Aides of both Olmert and Livni claimed their bosses had not been informed of the plans being drawn up for Atarot.

Boim’s spokesman Eran Sidis tried to downplay the plan, telling the Hebrew daily newspaper Yediot Acharonot that the plan was but one of several proposals for expanding Jerusalem. “This one was obviously ruled out because of the sensitive nature of the peace talks. We wouldn’t even dream of doing it ” the spokesman said.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told the AFP news agency, following Olmert, Livni and Boim’s statements, that Israel “Took a good step. I don’t know the calculations that went into it, but obviously it’s helpful that you don’t have that decision to contend with.” Rice said new Jewish communities would “undermine confidence.”

“I think that the Israelis understood that what had happened with Har Homa had had an effect of undermining the confidence in the very fragile and brand new peace process,” Rice she added.

Boim’s written statement said the Housing Minister was now examining the possibility of renewing the discussion of the Safdie Plan for expanding Jerusalem westward, “in order to provide a solution for the housing crisis in the city.”

Safdie’s plan was rejected by city planners and environmental groups as it entailed the destruction of large swathes of the Jerusalem Forest.

A common sentiment expressed by Jerusalem municipality members on the condition of anonymity is that building plans take a very long time to make it to the actual building stage.

“Olmert is not going to be prime minister forever,” said one insider. “We have to have plans ready for someone who is willing to solve the housing crunch in Jerusalem and respect Israeli law – which is that Jerusalem was annexed, end of story.”

HAMAS RADIO FROM THE TEMPLE MOUNT

Friday, December 21st, 2007

As incredible as it sounds, the terrorist group called HAMAS has been given exclusive rights to broadcast its message of hatred from the Temple Mount itself!

ISRAEL GOVERNMENT, POLICE STAND BY AS HAMAS BROADCASTS FROM THE TEMPLE MOUNT
by Hillel Fendel

More Olmert-Fatah-Hamas collusion: Hamas has been given exclusive radio broadcast rights from the Temple Mount this week – while Jews mourning the First Temple siege are banned from the site.

This week is the Moslem holiday Ein ul-Adhaa, marking the Islamic equivalent of Akeidat Yitzchak (the binding of Isaac by Abraham); the Koran, written in the late 7th century C.E., substituted Ishmael for Isaac.

Yesterday, as well, was the Jewish fast day of Asarah B’Tevet, commemorating the beginning of the siege by Nebuchadnezzar on Jerusalem over 2,500 years ago that resulted in the destruction of the First Temple, untold thousands of deaths, and a 70-year-long Jewish exile from the Holy Land.

“The siege of Nebuchadnezzar is recurring again in our time,” said Rabbi Chaim Richman of the Temple Institute, “this time through the Israeli government, which is banning Jews and Christians but is allowing Hamas, who will defile G-d in our holiest place. There is no greater demonstration of the total spiritual bankruptcy of the Israeli government.”

He told Arutz-7 that if, alternatively, it is not the Israeli government that is responsible, “then who are we kidding when we say that Fatah will fight Hamas? We see clearly that they work together, and Fatah has just as much of an interest in broadcasting Hamas incitement to murder Zionists as Hamas does.”

“It is unbelievable that [US Secretary of State Condoleeza ] Rice and [Foreign Minister Tzipi] Livni continue to repeat that a ‘strong PA and Palestinian state to fight terror is in the interest of Israel,’ when we see obviously that Fatah has no desire at all to fight Hamas terrorism.”

An ISDN line regularly broadcasts, over PA radio, the Islamic prayer services from the Temple Mount. This week, however, it granted the license to do so to Hamas – complete with Hamas Radio commercials, station identifications, and incitement against Jews. “Whoever wants to hear the Temple Mount services this week has to go to HamasRadio,” says Rabbi Richman.

Rabbi Richman was astounded at the symbolism involved: “Closing the Temple Mount to Jews all week long, including on our fast day, because of the Moslem holiday, emphasizes that the government not only favors Moslem sensibilities over Jewish ones, but also the Koranic version of our history over that of the Tanach, our Bible.”

WorldNetDaily’s Aaron Klein reported that Hamas celebrated the “victory” of its broadcasts: “Our broadcast is a victory for the Al Aqsa Mosque, which is suffering from Judaization efforts imposed by the Zionist government,” said Rami Kaoud, a manager at Hamas’ Al Aqsa Radio. “Broadcasting daily radio is a way to bring Al Aqsa to the Gaza Strip and challenge the siege imposed on us by the Zionist entity.”

A joint statement by the New Jewish Congress, the Temple Mount movements and The Sanhedrin states, “Not only is Hamas trying, with the Palestinian Authority, to destroy the State of Israel and all its [Jewish] inhabitants, but now the Government of Israel has decided to give over the Temple Mount, the apple of the Jewish Nation’s eye, for the use of enemy incitement.”

FORMER US AMBASSADOR TO UN SPEAKS OUT!

EX-US AMBASSADOR TO UN JOHN BOLTON SPEAKS OUT!
by Hillel Fendel

John Bolton, who served as the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations from August 2005 to December 2006, spoke with IsraelNationalRadio’s Tovia Singer about the recent Bush Administration intelligence report on Iran’s nuclear capabilities. The controversial diplomat said the report was more political than intelligence-based, and that it was meant only to undercut President Bush’s policies on Iran.

Singer began by asking Bolton, author of a recent book entitled, Surrender is Not an Option: Defending America at the UN and Abroad, “How did you manage to maintain your sanity while working in such a hostile environment as the UN?”

Chuckling, Bolton replied, “It was truly a target-rich environment there, and not the most hospitable. But it was important to have someone stand up for American interests, and make sure that we’re not turned into a well-bred doormat there at the UN and that our foreign policy options are not constrained.”

Singer: “But it certainly got you in an enormous amount of trouble, for you’ve always been outspoken, and you’re not hostile to the Jewish State, and you believe in the war on terrorism – basically, you drive the left crazy! Why do you do it?”

Bolton: “I like to think that Sen. Joe Biden actually tipped his hand a little back in 2001 when he opposed my confirmation for my first job in this administration as Undersecretary for Arms Control; he said that his trouble with me was that over the years, I have been ‘too competent.’ They were worried that I might actually change things.”

When Singer said he wanted to bring up the recent American intelligence report that downplayed the Iranian nuclear capabilities and brought great joy to Iran and to the left, Bolton said, “I don’t think we should call it an intelligence report, but rather a document of the Executive Branch. It was a highly-politicized document, written by some who are not even intelligence community professionals, but rather from the State Department… In theory, they all work for the President, but they don’t like his policies and they think that he’s too belligerent towards Iran – though my own personal view is that the President was not tough enough – and this paper was intended to undercut the Bush position. This report has put Bush’s policy on the bottom of the ocean.”

“Let me just take one specific example to show how distorted it was,” Bolton said. “The headlines all over the world after the report were that Iran has no nuclear weapons program – but in fact the document refers only to a halt on weaponization – putting a nuclear device on top of a ballistic missile, which is just a sliver of the all-out nuclear program. It’s an important piece, yes, but it’s just a small part. Since 2003 Iran has made steady progress towards all the technology it needs for a nuclear weapon, and it can turn its program back on – if it was ever turned off – in a snap. This report will be very harmful to the cause of stopping Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.”

Bolton went on to say that the job of the intelligence community is merely to “provide the facts, and what we do not need from the intelligence people is their view on how to put those facts into a political policy; for that, we have government leadership. Unfortunately, this report shows that the intelligence community has gone way beyond its legitimate boundaries.”

Singer asked why Iran, with its enormous oil reserves, does not just send ten billion dollars over to cash-strapped North Korea and buy a nuclear weapon?

Bolton: “It’s possible; North Korea is a criminal state, and would sell anything to anyone for hard cash. But my judgment is that Iran wants a sustained nuclear capability; they want to master everything so that it doesn’t have to be dependent on a place like North Korea.”

“I think we should all be paying more attention to the site that Israel struck in Syria back on September 6. You know, you in Israel are operating under extraordinary censorship about that, but I think this is a mistake – we need to get the facts out about what was going on there at that site near the Euphrates River. We need to know more about the nuclear partnership between Syria and North Korea there.”

Singer: “Has this report buried the strategy of imposing sanctions against Iran?”

Bolton: “Yes, certainly for the short term. But I have faith in the Iranians that they will soon do something that will tip their hand again and do something to show that they are working towards nuclear capability. I don’t think the report will stand for very long, but let’s face it, it’s done a lot of damage.

Singer: “You are now speaking to many Jews and non-Jews throughout the Land of Israel, from the Jordan to the Mediterranean. Your message to them?”

Bolton: “I think it’s important to keep your focus on national security and not get diverted by political rhetoric and the demands of people who are out trying to build legacies for themselves. You have to keep the long-term and your national interest in mind and remember who your friends are.”

GAZANS STAND WITH HAMAS, TERRORISM
by Ezra HaLevi

“Jews! We have already dug your graves,” declared Hamas official Mushir al-Masri at a half-million strong rally of support for Hamas in Gaza’s central square Saturday.
Al-Masri said that Hamas was eager to combat the IDF in any upcoming conflict. “The enemy’s exit from Gaza will be nothing like its entrance,” he said. “Gaza will become a graveyard for its soldiers.”

The Hamas official was joined by the terrorist group’s top brass, some via teleconference, at a massive show of support for the Islamist movement that unequivocally broadcast a message of support for terrorism and the ongoing war with the Jewish state among Gaza’s Arabs.

“Today is the day of Jihad, resistance and uprising,” Gaza’s Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said. Haniyeh was theoretically replaced by Fatah’s Salem Fayad after the Islamist group routed Fatah from Gaza, but maintains complete control of the area vacated by Israel during the 2005 Disengagement.

“The message from you today,” Haniyeh said to the huge crowd, “is that Hamas and these masses will not yield before sanctions. Your presence today, brothers and sisters, asserts the choice of resistance…against America and the Zionist occupation.”

Israeli flags were torched at the rally in Gaza.

Indeed, a clearer endorsement of Hamas’s terrorist tactics than the presence of one-third of Gaza’s 1.5 million residents at the rally could not be imagined. The stage was draped with Arabic, French and English banners reading: “We will not recognize Israel!”

Hamas Chief Khaled Mashaal, in a recorded address, said Hamas would never give up its violent tactics. “This is our real choice, our trump card, which causes the enemy to succumb to us,” he declared. He went on to say that the destruction of Israel would necessitate more Intifadas.

TWO TRACKS – BUT TERRORISM WORKS BETTER!
A recurring theme in the day’s speeches was that there are two tracks in the struggle to destroy the Jewish State; but that Hamas’s armed attacks are more effective than Fatah’s negotiations – as was proven by Israel’s retreat from Gaza. Nevertheless, the message was that Hamas is eager to reunite with Fatah and pursue the end of Israel together.

“Those who remain committed to the constant rights of their people, those who make an enemy of America and the Zionist occupation gain popularity,” Haniyeh barked. “This is Hamas. We will never cede our land. The choice of resistance and Jihad is the best path to liberate Palestine and return Jerusalem. Not negotiations and meetings, sitting at round tables and exchanging smiles and chuckles with the Jews.”

“The fruits of the other track, the track of negotiations, normalization and bargaining… all can see that it is the consolidating of settlements…injustice and oppression…they are bitter fruits,” Haniyeh said. “There is no such thing as a ‘just solution’ to the right of return,” Haniyeh said, referring to the demand that all Arabs who lived in pre-1967 Israel and their descendents be allowed to return and dispossess the Jews living there. “It is the right of every refugee…to return to the land.”

Hamas official Mahmud al-Zahar addressed the US and other backers of Fatah who aim to weaken Hamas through sanctions: “Our message to the world is that this movement cannot be destroyed. This celebration shows how in 20 years we have grown from a movement of 1,000 people to huge numbers.”

Haniyeh called for dialogue with Fatah free from any preconditions. Fatah publicly demands it be allowed to return to Gaza and receive an apology for the takeover.

Estimates ranged from 250,000 to 500,000. The Gulf Times reported “at least 500,000” while others reported “from 300,000-500,000.” The New York Times, Associated Press and AFP agreed that the rally was much larger than a Fatah rally held earlier this month, which was reportedly attended by 250,000.

“This is the real referendum on the popularity of resistance, the people converging behind Hamas,” 28-year-old Gaza businessman Zayed Herzallah told the Associated Press. “Hamas today, after 20 years and after thousands of martyrs, is graduating the fourth generation [of supporters].”

Another AP interviewee, Layali al-Kher, 27, expressed grassroots support for the terror group and even a forgiving tone toward the hardship of sanctions Hamas’s takeover had brought. “This siege was not imposed by Hamas but on them, so why should we criticize them?” she asked. “They’ve put Hamas in a bottle and they are trying to suffocate it. But they [Hamas] have achieved a lot: the streets are safe, the traffic is controlled. They have adapted quickly and have a strong will.”

The Islamic Action Front Party, a branch of Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood, held a protest in Amman Friday, calling on Hamas to renew terror attacks on Israeli civilians in population centers across the Jewish state.

The demonstration took place at the Al-Husseini Mosque following prayers.

LIEBERMAN: RICE WRONG WITH HAR HOMA CRITICISM!

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was mistaken when she called upon Israel to reconsider its plan to build more than 300 housing units in Har Homa, Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski said on a tour of the outlying Jerusalem neighborhood on Wednesday.

Lieberman purposely visited Har Homa at the same time that the Israeli and Palestinian negotiating teams launched the final-status peace talks. The visit was intended to send a message to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert not to give in on Har Homa, despite pressure from the United States and from the Palestinian negotiating team that protested the building plan during the talks.

“I have to correct the State Department,” Lieberman said. “They spoke about 300 housing units in Har Homa, but there are 3,000 on the way.”

Har Homa’s building plan was approved by the government of Yitzhak Rabin when the mayor of Jerusalem was Ehud Olmert. That’s as consensus as it gets.”

Lieberman came to the neighborhood and spoke to the press near the hilltop where the controversial 300 additional units will be built. When he spoke, sheep grazed in the background on land that will soon house a school, a synagogue and a community center.

“Every Jew has the right to live here,” Lieberman said, purposely using the same language former prime minister Ariel Sharon used to justify his controversial visit to the Temple Mount in September 2000.

“When it comes to building in Jerusalem, there are no considerations of timing, politics or pressure. It’s incumbent on us to withstand pressure.”

Lieberman said he disagreed with the State Department assessment that building on Har Homa would “violate the trust between the Israelis and Palestinians.” He said that if anything, the building plan would increase the trust of Israelis in their own government.

Asked if it bothered him that the Palestinian negotiating team canceled a photo-op ahead of Wednesday’s negotiations to protest the building plan, Lieberman said that he hoped the next meeting between the negotiating teams would be canceled completely.

“We are in the government to try to stop the Kassams and Annapolis and so we will continue building here,” Lieberman said. “This government will restore order in the Gaza Strip and the Kassams will stop in 2008.”

Lieberman called upon Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal to rescind his resignation letter. He said he agreed with Moyal that the government had not done enough to help Sderot. National Union MK Effi Eitam called upon Lieberman to follow Moyal’s lead and quit to protest the government’s mishandling of Sderot.

Lupolianski, who headed Jerusalem’s planning committee when Har Homa was approved, said Rice was “mistaken” for thinking that the neighborhood was a settlement. “Har Homa is part of Jerusalem and there is no difference between building here and building in Rehavia, Romema or Ramot,” Lupolianski said. “I don’t see how anyone can be so cynical to raise objections to a plan that has all its permits.”

Lupolianski lashed out at Olmert for not budgeting enough money to promote the city. “The American federal government is investing in their capital, Washington, DC, but our government isn’t investing in our DC, which is David’s City,” Lupolianski said.
