THE STATE OF ISRAEL IN THE LAST DAYS

“THE STATE OF ISRAEL IN THE LAST DAYS”
Jeremiah 31:35-37

The term “ISRAEL” is used 2566 times in the Bible – more than any other subject next to the Lord Himself! The misunderstandings and various interpretations of this unique word moves us to a careful investigation of how it is used in the Bible.

THERE IS CONFUSION ABOUT THE MEANING OF ISRAEL!

1. The word refers to a new name for Abraham’s grandson – Jacob – Genesis 32:28; 35:10

2. The word refers to the twelve tribes who descended from the sons of Jacob – Genesis 49:28

3. The Bible refers to the “children of Israel” 644 times of which 14 usages are in the New Testament.

4. The word “Israel” refers to the “nation” that was given the 613 commandments of God – Deuteronomy 4:1, 7-8

5. The word “Israel” refers to the “land” which was promised to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – Genesis 17:8; 26:3; 35:12; Psalm 105:8-11; Ezekiel 37:11-14

6. The term is used of the ten northern tribes that separated from the tribes of Judah and Benjamin in the days of King Rehoboam, the son of Solomon – I Kings 12:16-24

7. The term “Israel” is also used in the New Testament to describe those Jews who became
believers in the Messiah; they are called “the Israel of God” – Galatians 6:16

Interestingly, God refers to Himself as “the LORD God of Israel” 108 times, and as the “God of Israel” 203 times. Out of the 145 usages of the word “nation” in the Bible, at least 55 are used of the “nation of Israel.” It is impossible to “spiritualize” or “allegorize” the term “Israel” when it speaks of itself as a “nation” and a “land.”

THERE IS CONFLICT OVER THE LAND!

Out of over 1700 usages of the word “land” 31 refers to the “land of Israel.” The phrase “the land of Canaan” is used 66 times and the Bible makes it clear that this land was given to “the children of Israel” by God Himself (Deuteronomy 32:49; Numbers 13:2).

1. The DIMENSIONS of the land were determined by God Himself – Genesis 15:18

2. The DESIRE of God for the land is constant – Deuteronomy 11:10-12

3. The DESCENDANTS to whom God gave this land are the physical descendants of Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob – Genesis 12:7; 13:14; 15:18; 17:7-8, 18-19; 26:3; 28:3-4, 13-15; 35:11-12; 48:3-4; 50:24

4. The DECLARATIONS of the Lord to the children of Israel when they were in bondage
in Egypt are clear – Exodus 3:8, 15-17; 6:1-8; 13:5, 11; 15:17; 32:13; Leviticus 25:38

5. The DISOBEDIENCE of God’s people did NOT forfeit their right to the land in the
future – Leviticus 26:40-45; Deut. 30:3-5; Jeremiah 16:15; 31:10, 35-37

6. The DECISION to give the land to the nation of Israel was based on an everlasting covenant
– I Chronicles 16:15-18; Psalm 105:8-11

7. The DETAILS of the land’s productivity cannot be symbolical – Ezekiel 36:8

8. The DWELLING of Israel in the land in the future is clearly predicted in Bible prophecy –
Ezekiel 37:11-14; Zechariah 12:1-14

9. The DETERMINATION of nations to remove Israel from its land will NOT be successful –
Psalm 83:1-5; Amos 9:13-15

10. The final DESTINY of Israel in its land is in the hands of the Lord – Ezekiel 39:25-29

THERE IS CONCERN ABOUT ISRAEL’S SURVIVAL!
Matthew 24:34-35

The word “generation” comes from the Greek word genos (used 21 times in the New Testament) and from the Greek word genea (used another 42 times) – a total of 63 times. The words “this generation” appear 16 times.

THREE MAJOR VIEWS OF “THIS GENERATION”:

1. A reference to those who were listening to this prophecy of Jesus (preterist view) and
saw the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 ad.

However, it is clear that whoever is meant by the words “this generation” – they will exist
until “all these things” are fulfilled. That cannot refer to the destruction of Jerusalem
because some of “these things” did not occur at that time.

2. A reference to those living at the time of the Great Tribulation (futurist view)

3. A reference to the nation of Israel during the future Great Tribulation.

Luke 11:50-51 – Why would the words “may be required of this generation” apply to first
century Jews who were not responsible for the death of the prophets mentioned? It would
make sense if it applies to the nation of Israel.

ISRAEL’S SURVIVAL IS BASED ON THREE MAJOR ISSUES:

(1) GOD’S FOREKNOWLEDGE
Romans 11:2

(2) GOD’S FAITHFULNESS
Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalm 89:30-37

(3) GOD’S FORGIVENESS
Jeremiah 31:31-37; Ezekiel 39:22-29; Romans 11:25-27 cf. Isaiah 63:7

CONCLUSION: It is clear from the Biblical evidence that the modern State of Israel is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. The Bible makes it clear that God will NEVER cast away or forsake His people – the nation and its land will exist forever!

Isaiah 41:9 – “Thou art My servant; I have chosen thee,
and NOT cast thee away.”

Isaiah 41:17 – “I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will NOT forsake them.”

Isaiah 44:21 – “for thou art My servant: I have formed thee; thou art My servant: O Israel, thou shall NOT be forgotten of Me.”

Isaiah 49:15b-16 – “yet will I NOT forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of My hands; thy walls are continually before Me.”

Isaiah 54:7-8 – “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid My face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.”

Isaiah 62:4 – “Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate; but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee and thy land shall be married.”

MAJOR ISRAELI NEWSPAPER RUNS MISSIONARY AD

MAJOR ISRAELI NEWSPAPER RUNS MISSIONARY AD
by David Lev (IsraelNationalNews)

For the first time, a major Israeli newspaper has accepted an ad from an open missionary group.
The economic daily Calcalist on Wednesday featured a large ad placed by Jews for Jesus offering readers an app that leads them to the organization’s website, where there is a “hard sell” in Hebrew on why Jews should believe in Jesus.

The ad is printed on a background of the flag of Israel, clearly associating the ad, and the organization, with Israel’s Memorial Day for fallen IDF soldiers, being commemorated on Wednesday.

While the ad does not appear to directly proselytize Calcalist readers, it does feature a mnemonic based on the Hebrew word for Jesus, “Yesh > Yeshu > Yeshua,” modeled after the popular mnemonic used by followers of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, “Na Nach Nachma Nachman Me’Uman.”

The word “Yeshua” in Hebrew means “salvation,” and is used by Christian missionaries to justify their position that Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah. Jews, of course, reject this position, using as proof the fact that the prophecies in the Hebrew Bible associated with the Messiah, such as the arrival of an era of world peace, have not been fulfilled.

Early Christians changed the commandments, a further halakhic proof of a false prophet.

Direct proselytization with the promise of a material benefit is against the law in Israel. However, there is no law against urging people to adopt a new belief or religion based on spiritual or philosophical principles.

The ad includes a QR code that readers can scan with their smartphones that installs an app produced by the group. The app directs users to the group’s web site, where “issues of the day,” including politics and Jewish history, are discussed from a Christologic viewpoint. Among the claims made on the web site is that the Jews are to blame for the persecution they have experienced over the generations, and especially for the Holocaust, because of their rejection of Jesus.

Anti-missionary groups slammed Calcalist for running the ad, with one activist saying they planned to sue Calcalist for printing an ad that was clearly misleading. “The ad implies that it is in memory of fallen IDF soldiers, but its real purpose is something else entirely. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

Calcalist is a part of the Yediot Achronot publishing group, which is headed by Arnon Mozes.

(EDITOR’S NOTE: There is no reason for any Jewish person to be “ashamed” of Biblical proof of the Messiah. The idea that Yeshua could not be the promised Jewish Messiah because He did not bring “world peace” is absolutely nonsense and Biblical ignorance! The Bible teaches that the Messiah is the “PRINCE OF PEACE” (Isaiah 9:6-7) and that He will bring world peace and a Kingdom that will never be destroyed – but that is all future, and did not refer to His first coming. Instead of buying into the above criticism. why not read the article on our front page – “WHO IS THE MESSIAH?” and get a copy of our best-selling booklet by the same title – just call 1-800-75-BIBLE and ask for a free copy!)

NETANYAHU: “WHEN SIRENS SOUND, WE ARE ONE FAMILY”

NETANYAHU: “WHEN SIRENS SOUND, WE ARE ONE FAMILY”
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu (IsraelNationalNews)

When Memorial Day sirens sound, “We will all become one family,” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said as Israel remembers fallen soldiers and terror victims. A one-minute siren sounded at 8 p.m. Tuesday and a two-minute siren will sound at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Prime Minister recalled his brother Yoni, who was the commander and the only IDF casualty in the daring raid on Entebbe to rescue more than 100 hostages on a plane hijacked to Uganda.

“Like you, my dear brothers and sisters, on every Memorial Day I think of my dear fallen brother; I think about my parents who lost their beloved son, and about my brother Iddo, who lost his eldest brother,” he said.

Prime Minister Netanyahu also noted comrades who died when he was serving in the armed forces.
“I remember Chaim Ben Yona from Kibbutz Yehiam,” said the Prime Minister. “Chaim was an outstanding young man. He fell next to me while we were crossing the Suez Canal in the dead of night.

“I also remember my fellow soldiers Zohar Ben Linik and David Ben Hamo, both remarkable fellows who were killed during preparations for a military operation, shortly after we enlisted together to the Special Forces unit Sayeret Matkal. I escorted Zohar and David, who were seriously injured, to the hospital, where they were both pronounced dead….

“David Ben Hamo died in my arms on the drive from the training ground to the hospital…. When they say that it’s the best ones who fall, they mean people like Chaim and Zohar and David.

“Decades later, I visited David’s home in Beer Sheva, and I went into his room. The room was left exactly as he had left it the last time he was there. For us, the bereaved families, time stops as soon as we get the terrible news. A brutal sword rips our lives in two, and our lives will never be the same.

In a separate message to bereaved families, Prime Minister Netanyahu said, “It was the heartfelt duty of our dear ones that led them to face the enemy…. Today, the People of Israel lay aside disagreements and stand as one beside you.”

Remembrance Day is immediately followed by Independence Day – Yom HaAtzmaut. The Prime Minister remarked that thanks to Israel’s soldiers, especially those who fell, the State of Israel was reestablished.

“Thanks to them, the State of Israel will continue to develop and prosper, and thanks to them the members of the younger generation will also be able to live their lives in security and tranquility,” he told the families.

IRAN REMAINS DEFIANT AS NUCLEAR TALKS BEGIN
By David Dolan

The conflict between Israel and Iran continued to dominate the headlines in the Jewish State during April. The main focus was on the meeting mid-month in Turkey between top diplomats from the P-5 nuclear powers and Germany, who met with several of Iran’s defiant Shiite Muslim leaders. The one-day talks termed “successful” by some of the Western participants despite the fact that little of substance was accomplished came as further economic and political sanctions were imposed upon the rogue country.

Israeli officials made clear they view the talks as just another path for the Iranian clerical regime to continue its nuclear weapons development program while avoiding possible military action from NATO forces and/or Israeli defense forces. However the officials added that they had not promised the P-5 leaders that Israel would not attack Iranian nuclear facilities as long as the talks continue, with the next session set for late May.

Meanwhile tensions heated up significantly between Iran and its nearby Arab neighbors after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited an island in the Gulf claimed by both Iran and by the United Arab Emirates. The visit prompted Gulf leaders to issue a formal warning to Iran not to interfere in the affairs of its Arab neighbors. This was quickly followed by new verbal threats of possible aggression from the feisty President. Just before this latest altercation, American media outlets stated that Israel has made an important military pact with a Muslim country located due north of Iran. At the same time, an Israeli television channel reported that Israeli leaders believe a war with Iran and its allies would last around three weeks, but would not result in severe Israeli casualties.

Israeli officials continued to watch the violence in Syria with intense concern during April, especially after a UN-brokered ceasefire failed to take hold mid-month. The UN said over 11,000 people have perished in the growing conflict during the past year, with more deaths occurring every day. Israel’s top military commander made an unannounced visit to inspect two IDF outposts located on the Golan Heights near the tense border with Syria as tens of thousands of displaced Syrian refugees continued to pour into Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.

The unstable situation in Egypt also continued to be in focus during the month as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Sinai border to check on the new security fence going up there. The interim Egyptian military government sent police reinforcements into the Sinai during April with the prior approval of the PM. The disqualification of a former senior official in the Mubarak regime to run in the Presidential elections scheduled for late next month, along with the candidate that was to be fielded by the Muslim Brotherhood movement, produced more political chaos in the Arab world’s largest and most influential country. The new Muslim Brotherhood candidate made clear he will make the Palestinian issue his top priority if he wins the election.

Two stunts planned by the Palestinians for late March and mid-April basically fizzled; one, the staging of planned huge rallies along Israel’s northern, southern and eastern borders and in areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority, and the second a “fly in” of pro-Palestinian activists who had hoped to “take over” Israel’s Ben Gurion airport. This came as the Quartet peace partners met in Washington DC to discuss their recent attempts to re-start the stalled peace process. A planned meeting between Netanyahu and the PA Prime Minister did not take place in the end, leading Israeli analysts to say that the PA is apparently not at all interested in getting any serious negotiations going at this time.

The Israeli public received some good economic news during the month. The Netanyahu cabinet approved a large trade deal with the world’s largest country, China, including the expansion of joint research projects in the fields of hi tech, medicine and other areas. This came as talks continued between the two countries to set up a free trade zone between them, which Israel currently enjoys with the United States and several other trading partners. Another slice of good economic news was the government announcement that 752,000 visitors had arrived in the Jewish State during the first quarter of 2012, an all-time record that is two per cent higher than the corresponding first quarter of 2011. As is usually the case, officials said the majority of tourists were Christian pilgrims who came to the region despite the upheaval gripping many portions of the Middle East.

Just hours after American President Barack Obama met with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House in early March, US government officials announced that Iranian leaders had agreed to attend a new round of international talks aimed at halting the Islamic regime’s threatening nuclear development program. Israeli officials, along with many others around the world, believe the program is ultimately aimed at building deadly nuclear warheads that could greatly aid the Shiite country in its frequently declared goal of wiping Israel off of the regional map.

The world’s five leading nuclear powers – the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China – were joined by Germany in attending the new round of talks, held in Istanbul Turkey with the participation of several Iranian diplomats. Earlier negotiations had failed to persuade the Iranian regime to curb its nuclear activities, and Israeli leaders said they anticipated the same outcome now. When Israeli officials expressed public exasperation over the fact that Iran was being given more time to work on its nuclear program in exchange for merely attending the talks, which will only be resumed on May 23 in, of all places, the violence-torn city of Baghdad, President Obama defended the action. He told reporters in Washington that international pressure on Iran to halt its nuclear program would continue apace, despite the fact that occasional talks are taking place. “We’re going to keep on seeing if we make progress,” said the American leader, adding that “Now, the clock is ticking, and I’ve been very clear to Iran and to our negotiating partners that we’re not going to have these talks just drag out in a stalling process.” Obama also said the US and its partners “haven’t given anything away” by returning to the negotiating table. He maintained that “We still have a window in which to resolve this conflict diplomatically.” However he also warned Tehran that “The window is closing and Iran needs to take advantage of it.”

After attending the Istanbul meeting, American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also told reporters the US government will keep up pressure on Iran despite the talks. “I believe in action for action, but I think in this case the burden of action falls on the Iranians to demonstrate their seriousness, and we are going to keep the sanctions in place and the pressure on Iran as they consider what they’ll bring to the table in Baghdad, and we’ll respond accordingly,” she said. On the question of the talks acting as a cover for further Iranian nuclear activity, the senior US diplomat promised to “take this one step at a time,” adding that “any process would have to have reciprocal expectations and actions and there has to be evidence by Iran that they would be seriously moving toward removing a lot of their nuclear ambiguity that exists now, that they would be much more open and transparent, and that they would take steps to respond to the UN Security Council resolutions and to the international community’s concerns.

Although most participants expressed contentment with the short Istanbul parlay, Israeli officials were especially disturbed when it was announced that there would be another five week gap until the next round of talks takes place in Iraq. Reacting to the international gathering, PM Netanyahu said, “My initial impression is that Iran has been given a freebie. Its got five weeks to continue enrichment without any limitation, any inhibition.” He noted it is a very critical period of time since Iran continues to move its uranium enrichment centrifuges to a deep underground bunker at Fordow, close to the Iranian holy city of Qom, and may now have time to successfully complete the process before the end of next month. “I think Iran should take immediate steps to stop all enrichment, take out all enrichment material, and dismantle the nuclear facility near Qom,” the Israeli Premier told reporters at the end of the weeklong Jewish festival of Passover.

In an interview with CNN, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak echoed the Premier, telling reporters in Jerusalem that the only concrete result from the talks between Iran and the international nuclear powers and Germany was that Iran had “gained five additional weeks to bring its efforts at deploying atomic weapons closer to reality.” However Barak had earlier made clear that the Israeli coalition government had given absolutely no assurances to the United States or anyone else that it would refrain from taking any military action deemed essential while the world powers negotiate with Iran. The Defense Minister noted that once the radical Shiite regime is finished moving its uranium enrichment facilities underground, it will be nearly impossible to successfully destroy them, thus giving Israel a very good reason to attack above-ground targets in the coming weeks even if this might set off a major war and an international firestorm.

Just before the nuclear talks began in Turkey, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared once again that his regime would not alter its nuclear development program, period. Marking the Islamic Republic’s “Nuclear Technology Day,” he said his government would never give in to outside pressure to end its renegade nuclear program. Iranian Atomic Energy Agency chief Fereydoon Abbasi Davani later echoed this defiant stand, saying Iranian leaders utterly reject the two key demands issued by the United States, the European Union, Israel and other parties to immediately shut down the underground uranium enrichment facility near Qom, and to stop enriching uranium to 20 percent. In announcing the rejection, he maintained that the demands are “irrational,” adding that “If they do not threaten us and guarantee that no aggression will occur, then there would be no need for countries to build facilities underground. They should change their behavior and language.” Of course, he did not mention that Israel is only “threatening” to attack such facilities because Iranian leaders constantly vow to wipe out the world’s only Jewish-ruled state, thus “finishing what Hitler started” as the late Iranian strongman Ayatollah Khomeini succinctly put it back in 1991.
Meanwhile the US government slapped additional economic sanctions on Iran during April as the talks in Turkey got underway. The US Treasury announced that two more Iranian companies involved in weapons production had been placed on the banned for business list. A Nigerian shipping company that the Treasury said has been funneling Iranian weapons to what the US termed “terrorist groups” involved in conflicts in the Middle East, Africa and other places around the world was also placed on the black list, as were three leaders of the “Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Quds Force” who were also said to be heavily involved in the illicit weapons trade. Press reports said Iran had responded by halting oil sales to several European countries, but Iranian leaders later denied that this action was being taken. Japan announced it would sharply curtail its imports of Iranian crude by the end of April, while Switzerland banned any business dealings with 11 Iranian companies.
Two potentially crucial news items appeared in the American and Israeli media during April that point to what the world may expect to see if Israeli military forces are ordered by the Netanyahu government to strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities in the coming weeks or months. The usually reliable American Foreign Policy magazine reported that the Muslim country of Azerbaijan has granted Israel permission to use its air force bases as launching pads for a strike on nearby Iran. The small country, known for its moderate version of Islam and progressive political policies, is located due north of Iran. It has had running disputes with Tehran over oil rights, pipeline locations and other issues. Israeli warplanes would be able to operate without mid-air refueling if they were flying out of bases in the Muslim country.

Israeli officials would not publicly comment on the magazine report, but they were said to be upset that news of their reported alliance with Azerbaijan which most analysts said was undoubtedly accurate had been leaked by someone with knowledge of the accord. However some said the news might have come from a junior Israeli pilot who had been to the country to inspect its air force bases and then shared that information with family or friends. More likely is the possibility that one of the few senior American officials who had been clued in to the secret information had leaked the report to the magazine in an attempt to scuttle the deal. Foreign Policy also reported that the Obama Administration is not at all happy about the reported deal between Israel and Azerbaijan, but can do little if anything to stop it.

Analysts said there are two obvious major advantages to the potential use of air bases in Azerbaijan if Israel lashes out at Iran’s nuclear production sites. The first is the relative closeness of the bases in relation to Israel’s own air bases, which are located nearly a thousand miles west of some of the main Iranian targets near Tehran. The second is the apparent fact that Israel could launch its operation without the prior knowledge or approval of the United States and other allies, even though this would not be PM Netanyahu’s first choice of action. However, to maintain the element of tactical surprise, analysts say Israeli leaders might only notify the occupant of the White House, 10 Downing Street and other world leaders that an attack was pending upon Iran after IAF jets were actually nearing their targets. This would at least give President Obama a few minutes to notify his military commanders that an Israeli strike was imminent. He would also be expected to place all US forces serving in the volatile Middle East on full war alert, giving them a chance to take cover in anticipation of possible revenge strikes upon them, an insidious action that Iran’s Shiite fundamentalist leaders have vowed to take even if Israel acts alone.

Another media report, this time from Israel’s Channel Ten television network, spelled out the probable details of an expected war if the IAF strikes at Iran’s nuclear facilities. The network’s news department said it had obtained the secret minutes of a recent meeting of the government’s inner “security cabinet” headed up by Prime Minister Netanyahu. The report said that military leaders are projecting an intense war lasting up to three weeks, which would touch most of Israel’s borders. Ground fighting would probably take place with Lebanon and Syria, and some sporadic clashes might also take place along the borders with Jordan and Egypt, mainly with irregular Muslim fighters financed by Iran.
However the main feature of the projected war is expected to be massive rocket and missile bombardments of Israeli civilian centers, mainly from the heavily armed Hizbullah militia operating out of southern Lebanon but also from Iran’s other local allies Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip. The report said missile assaults would probably also be launched from Syria and Iran, which has threatened to attack Israel’s nuclear reactor at Dimona near Beersheva, and also Tel Aviv.
The Channel Ten report said that officials anticipate a relatively low casualty rate during such an intense showdown, saying that less than 300 people are expected to be killed in such a conflict. An unnamed civil defense official told the network that things should remain “manageable if everyone does their part.” However, some military analysts scoffed at this low casualty projection, saying that thousands of soldiers and civilians would probably perish in such ground action coupled with a massive missile blitz. They noted that wars always have a powerful dynamic of their own, and predicting the final outcome in advance is always a precarious guess at best.

Another expected reaction to any Israeli or Western military action against Iran is the launching of Iranian terrorist strikes against Jewish targets around the region and probably around the world. The UK-based Sky News cable news network reported it had obtained evidence that the “Quds Force” (Quds is the Islamic name for Jerusalem), an elite terrorist unit under the control of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, has plans to carry out many terrorist attacks in Turkey and several other countries either before, during or after any IAF operation. The network quoted an unnamed intelligence source who said that “Unit 400 of the Quds Force has been developing an operating procedure over the past few months for carrying out an attack in Turkey against various targets, some of them Israeli and Jewish. It is our firm assessment that these procedures are in a very advanced stage, and that the intention is to act on the plans very soon.”

A new crisis erupted during April when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited a small island in the Persian Gulf called Abu Musa. It is claimed by both Iran and by the United Arab Emirates. Two smaller nearby islands are also claimed by both countries. Gulf Arab leaders termed the short visit “an aggressive and war mongering act” by the Iranian President, who reportedly won the last Iranian Presidential contest with more votes than there are registered voters in his Shiite country.
The dramatic visit sparked off an emergency meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council based in Doha, the capital of Qatar. After the meeting, a statement was issued in the name of the council members, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. The tough statement warned that, “Any aggression against the United Arab Emirates will be considered aggression against all GCC member states.” It was the first time the Sunni Muslim Arab countries had warned of possible military action involving themselves against Shiite Iran. Israeli analysts called it another indication that the Sunni Muslim world would quietly back any IAF action to halt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, which is threatening all regional countries and the entire world, not just the tiny Jewish State. In typical fashion Ahmadinejad arrogantly denounced the joint statement. Speaking at an elaborate military parade marking Iran’s annual “National Army Day,” he vowed that “Our armed forces and the army will inflict heavy regret and shame” upon anyone who would dare to defy his country’s claims to the three islands. He added that Iranian leaders “prefer cooperation to confrontation,” but analysts noted that he has expressed no interest in discussing the conflicting territorial claims with his Arab neighbors across the strategic Gulf.

Meanwhile Prince Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of the late Iranian leader, Shah Reza Pahlavi, told Israel’s Channel 10 that a military operation against his country’s nuclear targets would actually aid the regime. Speaking in English, he said, “The best thing you can do for the regime is to tell it that we are going to attack you. You will be giving (overall Iranian leader Ayatollah) Khamenei and all his clique, when they have no answers anymore to the country’s ills, the greatest gift of all by doing that. That is just crazy. That just doesn’t make sense. The best option is to utilize the best army in the world in place ready to strike, which is the Iranian people themselves.” In response to the comments, several prominent Israeli military analysts said PM Netanyahu would like to see nothing more than the people of Iran rise up against their dictatorial government, as is occurring in Syria. However they noted that earlier attempts at revolt had been quickly crushed by the vicious Revolutionary Guards, who demonstrated their willingness to employ the most ugly violence possible to defend their Shiite leaders.

As Israel’s decades-long struggle with Iran seemingly coming to a climax, it is important to remember that Israel’s sovereign Lord remains in overall control of this world and universe. He will save His chosen people, as He has promised many times over the centuries through His anointed prophets: “Surely in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel” (Jeremiah 3:23).

UN AMBASSADOR PROSOR EXPLODES MYTHS OF PA-ISRAELI “STRUGGLE”

UN AMBASSADOR PROSOR EXPLODES MYTHS OF PA-ISRAELI “STRUGGLED”
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu (Arutz Sheva News)

Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Ron Prosor broke down several myths Monday in an “Open Debate on the Situation in the Middle East” in the United Nations Security Council.

After quoting Winston Churchill’s statement, “In the time that it takes a lie to get halfway around the world, the truth is still getting its pants on,” Prosor methodically brought up and broke down myths that he said have fertile ground in the Middle East. “Facts often remain buried in the sand. The myths forged in our region travel abroad – and can surprisingly find their way into these halls,” He said.

— Myth number one: “The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict is the central conflict in the Middle East. If you solve that conflict, you solve all the other conflicts in the region.” Prosor told the Council members. “The truth is that conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Egypt, Bahrain, and many other parts of the Middle East have absolutely nothing to do with Israel.

“It is obvious that resolving the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict won’t stop the persecution of minorities across the region, end the subjugation of women, or heal the sectarian divides. Obsessing over Israel has not stopped Assad’s tanks from flattening entire communities. On the contrary, it has only distracted attention from his crimes.

“Thousands are being killed in Syria, hundreds in Yemen, dozens in Iraq — and yet, this debate again repeatedly is focusing on the legitimate actions of the government of the only democracy in the Middle East. And dedicating the majority of this debate to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, month after month after month after month, has not stopped the Iranian regime’s centrifuges from spinning.

— Myth number two: “There is a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.”

The Ambassador pointed out that even the Deputy Head of the Red Cross Office and “numerous international organizations have said clearly that there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza.”

He added, Gaza’s real GDP grew by more than 25 percent during the first three quarters of 2011. There is not a single civilian good that cannot enter Gaza today. Yet, as aid flows into the area, missiles fly out. This is the crisis in Gaza.”

— Myth number three: “Settlements are the primary obstacle to peace.”

Prosor said he can save time for the UN Human Rights Council, which has proposed another ‘fact-finding’ mission to Israel – this time to explore Israeli settlements. He said that “the facts have already been found,” explaining that when Egypt and Jordan controlled Judea, Samaria and Gaza between 1948 and 1967, “The Arab World did nothing – it did not lift a finger – to create a Palestinian state. And it sought Israel’s annihilation when not a single settlement stood anywhere in the West Bank or Gaza.

Prosor charged that the Arab world’s “primary obstacle to peace is not settlements [but]…is the so-called ‘claim of return’ – and the Palestinian’s refusal to recognize Israel’s right to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people.

He said that claims that Israel is “Judaizing Jerusalem” are “accusations [that] come about 3,000 years too late. It’s like accusing the NBA of Americanizing basketball.” Prosor also said that the percentage of Arab residents in Jerusalem has grown from 26 percent in 1967 to 35 percent during the period that Israel supposed has been exercising “ethnic cleansing.”

— Another myth the Security has overlooked for the past 64 years, when Israel was reestablished as a state is the “one great untold story, or – to be more specific – …more than 850,000 untold stories [of] Jews…uprooted from their homes in Arab countries,” he said.

Prosor pointed out, “These were vibrant communities dating back 2,500 years [but]…were wiped out. Age-old family businesses and properties were confiscated. Jewish quarters were destroyed. Pogroms left synagogues looted, graveyards desecrated and thousands dead.”

“The pages that the UN has written about the Palestinian refugees could fill up soccer stadiums, but not a drop of ink has been spilled about the Jewish refugees.

— He told the Council he “saved the most obvious myth for last: the myth that peace can somehow be achieved between Israelis and Palestinians by bypassing direct negotiations. History has shown that peace and negotiations are inseparable.”

“Palestinian leaders continue to pile up new pre-conditions for sitting with Israel. They are everywhere except the negotiating table.“

NETANYAHU: “EGYPT GAS DISPUTE JUST ‘BUSINESS'”

NETANYAHU: “EGYPT GAS DISPUTE JUST ‘BUSINESS'”
by Gabe Kahn (IsraelNationalNews)

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday said Egypt’s decision to cancel the Egypt-Israel gas deal was “a business dispute” rather than being political in nature.

“We don’t see this cutoff of the gas as something that is born out of political developments. It’s actually a business dispute between the Israeli company and the Egyptian company,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a group of Israel Bonds leaders today.

Netanyahu added, “But alongside that I have to say that we have gas reserves to make Israel totally energy independent, not only from Egypt but from any other source, and to have Israel become one of the world’s large exporters of natural gas. So we’re quite confident on that score.”

However, Knesset opposition leader Shaul Mofaz described Egypt’s decision as a “possible breach of the Camp David accords.”

He also called on the United States, who brokered the 1978 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty, to immediately “take a clear stand” on the issue.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman went as far as to suggest bolstering Israel’s military presence along the Sinai border.

“The Egyptian case is much more worrisome than the Iranian one,” The Hebrew-language Ma’ariv quoted him as saying.

Late on Sunday the East Mediterranean Gas Company (EMG) issued a statement that Egypt was ending the Gas Supply and Purchase Agreement between the two parties.

“Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation [EGPC] and the [state-run] Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company [EGAS] notified EMG that they were terminating the Gas Supply and Purchase Agreement between the parties,” the Ampal statement read.

The company added “EMG considers the termination attempt unlawful and in bad faith, and consequently demanded its withdrawal.”

EMG, Ampal and EMG’s other shareholders were “considering their options and legal remedies as well as approaching the various governments,” it added.

Israel, through the Ampal-American Israel Corporation, owns a 12.5 per cent stake in EMG.

Egyptian Petroleum Authority head Hany Dahy told Al-Jazeera late Sunday that Egypt is ready to consider any offers from EMG regarding “late payments.”

“We have approached the Israeli side for the delayed payments but to no avail,” Dahy said during a television interview..

He added that the decision to terminate the contract was taken after detailed legal consultation.

Dahy said the contract stipulates that one of the parties can terminate its obligations if the other does not fully comply with the terms of the contract.

“All legal precautions were taken to shelter Egypt from any legal claims for reparations following the decision,” Dahy said.

Egypt’s Mubarak-era gas deal with Israel has been an issue of controversy since its inception.

Critics have openly accused the ousted Egyptian strongman Hosni Mubarak of selling the gas to Israel at below international prices in what they term a “sweetheart deal.”

However, Israeli officials have repeatedly noted that the price they pay for natural gas is better than other regional exporters receive and is in line with international prices.

Nonetheless, Mubarak is currently on trial, facing charges of conspiring with fugitive businessman Hussein Salem to export gas to Israel at below market prices.

Former minister of petroleum, Sameh Fahmy, as well as other former Egyptian officials are also on trial because of the prices stipulated in the gas deal with Israel.

Since the January 25 2011 uprising that led to Mubarak’s ouster on 11 February 2011, the Sinai gas pipeline feeding Israel and Jordan has been bombed 14 times.

Previous explosions have resulted in weeks-long supply stoppages to Israel and Jordan, and spiking electricity costs for consumers in the Jewish state.

Egypt’s interim military junta and now-ascendant Islamist parliamentary majority have been under strong public pressure to cancel the gas deal with Israel.

Officials in Cairo have also sought to retroactively alter the deal and raise prices in a move rejected by Israeli officials.

Political analysts say that unilaterally cancelling the deal based on late payments – an easily remedied technical contract violation – is almost certainly a sop to the intense anti-Israel sentiment in post-Mubarak Egypt.

The 20-year natural gas deal signed between Israel and Egypt in 2005 has been touted as a pillar of Egyptian-Israeli economic cooperation – but may now be at an end.

PHARAOH’S MAGICIANS WOO THE WHITE HOUSE

PHARAOH’S MAGICIANS WOO THE WHITE HOUSE
by Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrrack

Abdul Mawgoud Dardery and Sondos Asem of the Muslim Brotherhood delegation that recently visited the White House, were confronted by the Blaze’s Will Cain on CNN: “You say things to us in English… but many charge that when you go back to Egypt and you speak in Arabic, you say just the opposite.”

In response, Dardery, a 9/11 truther, dismissed Cain’s charge as a “conspiracy” theory. Asem then chimed in, mimicking Dardery’s tickle-the-ears rhetoric that westerners have grown accustomed to, expressing support for “democracy” and respecting “all peace treaties.” Asem is well-versed in such doublespeak as both of her parents are prominent leaders within the Muslim Brotherhood; her mother –Manal Abul Hassan – is one of the Brotherhood’s most powerful women.

Nicholas Kristof, a New York Times liberal, visited Sondos in her home only to be wooed by her before writing his article. He cautioned readers against alarm over the Ikhwan (Brotherhood) saying, “let’s not overdo the hand-wringing – or lose perspective.” Kristof also quoted Asem as saying, “It’s a big misconception that the Muslim Brotherhood marginalizes women. Fifty percent of the Brotherhood are women.”

Sondos is right. When it comes to the role of women in the “Muslim Brotherhood,” most westerners have a difficult time equating the word “Brotherhood” with women for obvious reasons.

Paradoxically, women are extremely active in the Muslim Brotherhood. One of the Brotherhood’s major wings is named the “Muslim Sisterhood.” This elite unit is not an innocuous “mule service,” made up of couriers during Mubarak’s days, who smuggled secret documents in order to more easily avoid surveillance’s eyes, neither are they made up of innocent women who don benign-looking hijabs, as portrayed by Der Spiegel.

Westerners like Cain and Kristof fail to ask the right questions, especially since they presumably do not read Arabic. Perhaps a staff transforming into a snake that eats up the serpents of Pharaoh’s magicians is in order. Whatever western media has reported so far about the Sisterhood will remain infinitesimally small until it learns to translate what members of the Sisterhood say in Arabic. It would probably take the White House, western media, and the public in general a decade or so to catch up and realize how ill-equipped they are to deal with it.

The Sisterhood is something of an enigma since the role of women in Jihad has little to do with the explosive act and firmly believes that the “Pen” is mightier than the “Sword,” at least until the pen runs out of ink. Welcome to Jihad By The Pen.

The Sisterhood is extremely active. It consists of highly educated media icons who speak multiple languages while traveling the globe and wielding influence over several international organizations, from the United Nations to women’s advocacy groups. Entire families like Sondos’ belong to it. The Sisterhood’s membership includes male supervisors, along with their activist wives and daughters; spies who’ve proudly disclosed their past “heroic” acts; Nazi affiliates from the time of the Brotherhood’s inception; Hijab advocacy groups in Europe; prominent doctors that became public figures; and even media moguls who double as conspiracy theorists while serving as cogs in the propaganda war machine.

The Muslim Brotherhood means what it says and fulfills its mission for the Sisterhood which was established in 1933, headed by Lebiba Ahmad. That mission, which is not translated by Sondos’ English version of the Ikhwan website, is “to gain and acquire a unified global perception in every nation in the world.”

In 2009, Sondos expressed a desire to meet President Obama and outwardly expressed her desire that he would “open the door for (our) hope to advance political Islam.” (that means Sharia law)

Sondos herself was recently featured in a debate (in Arabic, of course) alongside Ibrahim Hudaibi – grandson of the guide, former Muslim Brotherhood Ma’moun Hudaibi – and argued “why we cannot separate Islam from politics.” The opposition – led by former deputy Anwar Esmat Sadat and activist Dalia Ziada, Director of the Office of the Organization of American Islamic Congress in Cairo – argued for the necessity of separating religion from politics.

Sondos emphasized that, “Islam cannot in any way shape or form be separated from politics,” because in her view “Islam is a religion and a State.” American media is failing misearably by not examining the Arabic rhetoric; Sondos [in Arabic] is a diehard Islamist. Cain was right but failed to expose specifically, the Arabic he knew existed but had no access to.

Women in the Brotherhood can be seen working alongside men. Consider Sisterhood member, Najla Ali Mahmoud; she is the wife of Brotherhood’s current leader and candidate for President Mohammed Mursi. There is video of Sondos with Mursi.

On Islamonline – one of the Brotherhood’s favorite media outlets, similar to the site for which Sondos’ is editor – Mursi dismissed accusations by secular politicians that the group would sideline women and Copts from the political life in post-Mubarak Egypt.

“We want everyone to be reassured… that we want to see our Christian brothers elected in parliament,” he said.

In Arabic, Mursi says that Egypt needs to ban western dress and that people who believe in “the Trinity” do not possess a “full mental faculty.”

How about the chic Sisterhood professor, Zainab Abdulaziz? In an Arabic broadcast, she appeared in modern Arabic dress and spoke several languages.

She teaches about French civilization and is an avid conspiracy theorist who uses Nazi style propaganda, including accusations that Vatican II is akin to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. To Zainab, the Vatican is conspiring with the Zionists to “Christianize the Muslim world” with the goal of “completely uprooting Islam” and “making the Jews innocent from the blood of Jesus.” Al-Marsad, an Islamic media outlet, uses her propaganda worldwide; that propaganda includes horrendous and bloody depictions while calling on Muslims to resist Christianization.

Another Sisterhood leader, Zuhair Lzimaili, sits on the board of Al-Sabeel Newspaper in Jordan. One of its goals is to “expose the intrusion and assimilation attempts by the Zionist enemy.”

Aida Al-Mutlaq is another infamous Sisterhood leader who provides the details of another Sisterhood conspiracy: “We insist the danger to our national security is the American-Zionist project which aims to destroy our history, civilization and future…” Al-Mutlaq so fears a Zionist conspiracy that she called for reducing the King of Jordan to a figurehead. Prominent attorney and Islamist activist Jawad Younis (Shoebat’s own cousin) is a leading figurehead collaborating with Ahmad Al-Kafwin, member of the Executive Office of the Muslim Brotherhood to overhaul the current Jordanian legal system and is advanced under the guise of “Reformation.”

Similar to what the Nazis did with French General Philippe Pétain in Vichy, France, Al-Mutlaq wants Jordan to become the “fortress and formidable gate to thwart the Zionist agenda, which threatens Jordan… and the entire Arab and Muslim world.”

The interconnections and web of activists can cross any rabbi’s eyes. Take Sisterhood male supervisor Abdullah Alnoshan, the director of the Virginia office of the Muslim World League (MWL), a group that founded Rabita Trust which was initiated by its former General Secretary, the notorious al-Qaeda godfather, Abdullah Omar Naseef, who had close ties with the most intriguing member of the Sisterhood – Saleha Abedin, the mother of Huma Abedin, who works for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as Deputy Chief of Staff. Huma’s mother Saleha is a Sisterhood member who co-founded the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA) and partners with Sisterhood member Camellia Helmy, a woman who is also the leader of the Islamic Committee for Woman and Child (IICWC).

Are your eyes crossed yet? Camellia is found complaining that the “Women’s Committee of the United Nations had declared war on Islam” and confronts the United Nations by accusing it of supporting – wait for it – “Gender Equality.”

Saleha Abedin and Camellia Helmy – who publicly ran as a candidate for the Sisterhood election – are key figures in the Islamic Committee for Woman and Child, about which Masr (Egypt) newspaper reported: “The Islamic Committee for Woman and Child condemns passing any law that imprisons a husband under the pretext of raping his wife.” (Feb 22, 2009)

“Our roll is to apply pressure to the United Nations,” said Camellia in an interview with Dr. Muhammad Saidi in his program entitled, “The Dialogue of Civilizations” which was nothing more than getting the voices of the Sisterhood out.

On the program, Camellia explained how it all works: “We pressure to stop issues that do not agree with our religious perspective; our main goal is to stop agreements [between nations] and to announce the Islamic position regarding such agreements.”

She added…“The most dangerous of these is an international bill of rights for women (CEDAW) as the most dangerous issue that was ever established.”

Camellia explained the roll of the sisterhood as: “Within the United Nations exists a fifth column…these organizations apply daily pressure on governments which acts like a pincer. From one side the United Nations will apply pressure and from the other side these organizations [Muslim Sisterhood] apply pressure.”

Mursi is not Egypt’s only religously bigoted Presidential candidate with a penchant for 9/11 conspiracy theories and doublespeak. In fact, the man who many consider the frontrunner is guilty of both.

According to The New Republic, Egyptian Presidential candidate and former Muslim Brotherhood member, Abdel Monem Aboul Futuh is a 9/11 Truther who insisted that such a belief is “logical.” Futuh was also caught engaging in doublespeak when he told an Israeli reporter that he believed in honoring the Camp David peace accord. In Arabic, Futuh debunked his own words to that reporter.

Incidentally, Futuh has been endorsed by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Brotherhood leader the Obama Administration sought out to broker a deal between the United States and the Taliban.

Westerners are too often like archers who eye their targets while holding steady their bows, only to find empty quivers, as the threat grows.

GOP BACKING $680 MILLION FOR IRON DOME!

GOP BACKING $680 MILLION FOR IRON DOME!
by Gabe Kahn (Arutz Sheva News)

US lawmakers are considering an aid allotment of $680 million to strengthen Israel’s Iron Dome short-range rocket shield.

The move by Republican lawmakers comes in the face of previous attempts by the Obama Administration to prune defense aid to Israel.

Senior Republicans Howard McKeon (R-CA) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) criticized Obama for his lack of support of a “vital defense cooperation program.”

The Obama Administration earlier announced that an “appropriate” level of funding will be provided for this program, but did not request any specific sum for 2012.

The refusal to specify a funding commitment for Iron Dome – Israel’s advanced anti-rocket system – has effectively stopped Congress from allotting the funds at all.

According to IDF officials Iron Dome intercepted over 80 per cent of some 300 targets in March. Presently, Israel has three Iron Dome systems, which must be constantly redeployed based on regular threat assessments.

Defense officials want to have at least nine Iron Dome units in operation by 2013, while the IDF says it needs at least 15 to properly protect Israel’s populous urban centers.

The US spent over $200 million aiding in Iron Dome deployment in 2011. However, while the US has approved $235 million to finance the lesser-known Israeli anti-missile systems “Arrow” and “Magic Wand” for 2012, the Iron Dome allotment remains undefined.

US military aid to Israel is set to be delivered as part of a $30 billion 10-year military-aid package signed by President George W. Bush Administration in 2007.

From 2009 till 2018 the US is expected to grant Israel some $3 billion per year. Israel may spend 26 percent on locally-manufactured systems while the remaining 74 percent must be spent on US-manufactured systems.

The Obama Administration says, like its predecesors, that it considers Israel to be “the protector of peace in the Middle East,” whose “strength and superiority in the region is critical to regional stability.”

“We don’t just support Israel because of a long standing bond; we support Israel because it is in our national interests to do so,” US Assistant Secretary of State for political-military affairs Andrew J. Shapiro said last November.

BARAK DOESN’T “BUY” KHAMENEI’S ANTI-NUKE FATWA

BARAK DOESN’T “BUY” KHAMENEI’S ANTI-NUKE FATWA
by Gabe Kahn (Arutz Sheva News)

Defense Minister Ehud Barak – in Washington to meet with American officials ahead of the next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 – said Iranian supreme leader Ayatolla Ali Khamenei could not be trusted to halt Tehran’s controversial nuclear program.

“I don’t buy it so easily,” Barak told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Thursday when she asked about Khamenei’s recent fatwa [religious decree] that Iran would not acquire or develop nuclear weapons.

“It — it is the same Khamenei who said just a year ago he scorned Qadaffi for caving so easily to pressure, to give up his nuclear military program,” Barak said “…and he [Khamenei] points to where he [Qadaffi] is now.”

“And, have you heard the term Taqia, which means in Islam, especially in Shia Islam, a kind of permission from Heaven for the leader to lie and mislead others as long as it is to achiece the objectives of the movement, the group, the tribe, or the nation,” Barak said.

“So I don’t buy it,” he said. “I follow the facts on the ground. Enrichment continues. They got a pause of five months… five weeks until the next gathering in Baghdad ..everything is still working.”

During the interview Barak also rejected the impact Khamenei’s fatwa appears to have had on American pundits and decision makers, saying it is superfluous in terms practical action.

“Oh, there… there’s no need for a fatwa if they stop enriching for 20%, if they start bringing it out of the country to a friendly mutually agreed state, the 20% enriched uranium, and 3.5% enriched uranium beyond a few hundred kilograms which is not enough for a single device…” Barak said.

“…and, decommission the installation in Qom, and put the whole activity under the tight inspection protocol of the IAEA And answer all the questions that have been raised by the IAEA over the last years about the military activities in regard to nuclear weapons.

“Once they do this, it means they gave up the military nuclear program,” Barak explained.

He also rejected Amanpour’s assertion that the Obama Administration was not convinced Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons technology.

“I know. I’m talking to American intelligence. I talk to American leaders. There is no difference in the assessment of this danger,” Barak said.

“It’s true that probably Khamenei has not given orders to start building a [nuclear] weapon, but why he is doing this?” Barak asked rhetorically. “Because he understands that if he starts to break the IAEA [rules] and starts to actually build a weapon, he might find himself faced with an American response.”

Or “an Israeli response… in a way that might damage him. But that’s the only reason why he did not give the order. But they are clearly heading toward this objective.

Barak also responded sharply when Amanpour pressed him on the likelihood of an Israeli strike, and what form it might take.

“Look, Christiane, I assume you understand that I do not like the kind of flood of descriptions and speculations about Israeli attacks on Iran,” Barak said.

“I think that it should be — remain behind closed doors as a part of a — a — a vague understanding that there is a big stick in the background, and when we say, and the Americans say, all options are on the table we mean it. And that might suffice.

“I don’t think that it will help in any — any tangible manner to convince the Iranians by going into speculations about how such an American or Israeli strike might look like or when it might take place…”

Barak became even more incredulous when Amanpour tried to press him for details citing leaks to Israel’s press.

“You don’t — you don’t seriously expect me to…” Barak said, shaking his head.

Later in the interview Barak told Amanpour he would not speculate on whether Jerusalem would give Washington a heads up if Israel launched a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“You know, we don’t — we don’t take a decision as of now, not because it — it’s something that we are contemplating. We have a very open kind of frank discussion of these issues with the Americans,” he insisted.

ISRAEL REMEMBERS THE HOLOCAUST
by Ryan Jones (Israel Today News)

Israel on Thursday was the scene of solemn silence and piercing cries as every man, woman and child remembered the Holocaust, the most devious and the most successful attempt in history to destroy the Jewish people.

No matter how many times one hears it, the emotions stirred by the nation-wide siren blast at 10 AM on the morning of Holocaust Victims and Heroes Remembrance Day never diminish. It is humbling, and heartbreaking, to realize that at that exact moment, six million fellow Israelis are all standing together in tear-inducing silence in honor of six million European Jews whose lives were mercilessly snuffed out.

In Auschwitz, Poland a group of hundreds of Israelis and Diaspora Jews, including 50 Israeli soldiers, marched through the preserved remains of the largest of the Nazi death camps, as a squad of Israeli F15s roared overhead, a symbol that despite the best efforts of history’s most notorious villains, the people of Israel not only live, but are stronger than ever.

Back in Israel, the nation’s leaders presided over memorial ceremonies, insisting that such an atrocity would never again befall the Jewish people so long as there was a Jewish state to defend them.

But in the back of everyone’s minds is the growing concern that in less than a generation from now, the Holocaust will be redefined by Israel’s antagonists, if not forgotten completely.

Already today, foes like Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Palestinian Authority’s Mahmoud Abbas and British author David Irving deny that the Holocaust ever happened, or try to paint it as a Jewish conspiracy. It is difficult for these revisionists to gain much mindshare at present as there are still Holocaust survivors living among us. But what happens when the last of those poor souls to personally experience the Nazis’ “Final Solution” is laid to rest?

When there are no more Holocaust survivors left, and one of the blackest chapters in human history is no longer a living memory, will any nation besides Israel continue to remember it for what it was? Will any nation besides Israel continue to believe that the spirit behind that horrific act of genocide remains active in the world today?
